Hohe Tauern National Park, the biggest national park in central Europe, covers an area of 1800 square kilometres encompassing a huge variety of individual attractions. Here you will find the highest mountains in Austria, glaciers, waterfalls, wildlife parks and museums. Among the wildlife that can be found here are ibex, chamois, marmots and golden eagles. The park, which is a magnet for walkers and mountaineers, is also noted for the abundant alpine flora.
