The Marmorschlössl (Little Marble Palace), in the grounds of the Imperial Palace, was built for Elisabeth of Bavaria as her private house. Here she met with her closest friends and famous artists, poets and writers of her time. Today the historic building serves as Upper Austria’s photography museum. The collection shows the history of photography from 1839 to the present day with numerous examples of photographic equipment and thousands of photographs. Of special note is the collection of 400 colour slides of the Hapsburg Duchess Margarethe von Österreich from the time before the First World War.
