The popular Attergaubahn, which is a part of an extensive rail network which was never realised, begins at the Eilzugstation Vöcklamarkt and runs, with inclinations of up to 47 %, across to Walchen and the children’s museum at Schloss Walchen, Kogl, St. Georgen im Attergau and finally to Attersee. The final stretch of track, which no longer exists, led to the lakeside. The railway was originally extensively used for goods traffic in addition to passenger transport for tourists and carried timber, fertilizer and even beer, in refrigerated containers, for the Zipf brewery.
